Yes. Your Akeneo runs as its own installation, with its own storage, its own database and database user, and its own credentials. On Standard and Premium, the servers, the load balancer and the database server are shared with other customers. Custom runs on dedicated VMs.
Someone still has to run it. On a VPS you install the patches and upgrades, check that backups restore, watch Akeneo and handle outages yourself, and the VPS uptime guarantee covers the server, not Akeneo. We do all of that, with daily off-site backups and a 99.9% SLA on Akeneo itself. Already running it on a VPS? We move it for you.
